A network interface card (NIC, or network interface controller) is a hardware device installed into a computer that connects the computer to a network.

Some limitations are that they are not very secure, can be hacked into and card data can be transferred from one system to another. NIC’s can be easily made redundant, and replaced with a much faster, more secure option. This means that in the near future NIC’s may be a thing of the past.
